On Friday, January 7, two Mississippi sisters were released from prison before completing their sentences. Gov. Haley Barbour suspended the life sentences of Jamie and Gladys Scott on one condition—Gladys, 36, must give one of her kidneys to Jamie, 38.
One would hope that the sisters were willing to go ahead with the kidney transplant even without the incentive of early prison release.
God doesn’t want us to feel obligated to be generous against our wishes; He wants us to be inclined to give to others in need. 2 Cor.9:7 says, “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
