On Saturday, May 25, 2013, judges for Miss Universe Canada awarded the crown to Denise Garrido—and then took it away from her a day later. A mistake in the scoring had erroneously given her the title. During the validation of the computerized scoring results, a typographical error was discovered. The crown went to Riza Santos instead.
Garrido reported that her heart sank when she was told the news, but said, “I will always have the memory of being the 24-hour queen.”
As long as we remain faithful to Jesus, we have no fear of losing the crown of glory that awaits us in heaven. Our reward is certain!
“I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”—Philippians 3:14.
