My brother got on an elevator in a Charlotte hotel with a fellow who towered over him. Looking up, he asked, “Do you play basketball?”
“A little bit”, was the reply.
When my brother later told his friends about this encounter, they informed him that the San Antonio Spurs were in town, and that some of them were standing right across the lobby.
“There he is”, my brother said. “That’s the one I spoke with.”
“That’s Tim Duncan!” they said.
Later on, my brother and a friend were trying to get on the elevator, when someone held the door for them. Who was it? You guessed it. Tim Duncan!
My brother, trying to play it cool, said, “Thanks, Tim”.
Sometimes we pretend we know people better than we really do.
Sometimes we do that with Jesus.
