Show of Respect

communion

Jackie Ray Cooper was buried this past Tuesday. Mr. Cooper had been County Judge-Executive of Lewis County (KY) for 16 years. The funeral procession drove by the courthouse on the way to the cemetery. It was heart-warming to see many of the courthouse personnel lining the sidewalk as we drove by—a sincere show of respect to one who had served well.

When we take our place in line for communion on Sunday, we are showing our respect to a Savior who served us well when he went to the cross to die in order to pay for our sins. Let us continue to honor our crucified and risen Lord.

“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”—Hebrews 12:2.
