Tomorrow is the Super Bowl, and as of right now, I don’t have any parties to attend. That’s perfectly fine with me. It’s not that I don’t like the Super Bowl. I watch the game every year. It’s just that I don’t seem to enjoy the game nearly as much when I am with a big group of people. There are too many distractions that take my focus away from the game. I would much rather stay home and watch the Super Bowl with my wife.
The church at Corinth seemed to have trouble focusing on the true significance of the Lord’s Supper. They had allowed it to become a divisive part of their church life, when communion should be a wonderful time of celebrating the unity we have in Christ.
Don’t allow anything to take your focus off of Jesus!
“For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.”—1 Corinthians 11:26.
