We are continually bombarded by words. Whether they are spoken or written, we live in a constant flurry of communication. From television and movies to newspapers and magazines to social media, we are exposed to the various opinions of the countless people who vie for our attention. Each speaker or writer seems as determined as the next to “wow” people with their words.
Jesus amazed a lot of people with his words. However, there was a time when he made a great impact on an important official by saying nothing at all.
Jesus was on trial before Pilate when this happened. Mark records the incident—“The chief priests accused him of many things. So again Pilate asked him, “Aren’t you going to answer? See how many things they are accusing you of.” But Jesus still made no reply, and Pilate was amazed.” (Mark 15:3-5).
When is the last time you amazed someone with your silence?
I think I’ll be quiet now.
Hmm..I almost hated to comment LOL…thought maybe I’d stay silent. Sadly, I am not very good at that. But, sometimes we should huh? Stay silent, that is. Good one.
You have a lot of good things to say, Wally. Speak whenever it is appropriate!
You are very kind. Thank you. The encouragement I get here from other believers is so wonderful.
