It’s funny to watch an 8 or 9-year-old at a swimming pool. They are constantly clamoring for attention. Every time they get ready to jump into the water, they call out to an adult, “Look at me!” It’s as if no one in the history of the human race has ever jumped into a pool of water as well as they are about to do it!
As we mature, we don’t need quite so much attention. At least we shouldn’t. It would be odd for an adult to yell, “Look at me!” every time he or she jumped into a pool.
As we mature spiritually, we should call less attention to ourselves and more attention to Jesus.
“He must become greater; I must become less.”—John 3:30.
