The Speed Bump cartoon that appeared in newspapers on February 17, 2016 made a joke about the experimental driverless cars that have been in the news lately. It depicted a couple of cowboys riding along behind the herd. One says to the other, “Yup, I like these self-driving cattle.”
Perhaps driverless cars will become the norm someday. However, I know from experience that cattle seem to have a mind of their own. They tend to not go in the direction you want them to go.
In the same way, we tend to not move in the direction God wants us to go. However, once we invite the Holy Spirit to come into our lives, we have the capability to control our actions and do what God wants us to do.
“The fruit of the Spirit is…self-control.”—Galatians 5:22-23.
