Resolutions Abound

If you are looking for some possible New Year’s resolutions, there is no shortage of suggestions in the Bible. Just browsing through Philippians this morning, I found the following possibilities.

  1. Enjoy God’s grace and peace more (1:2).
  2. Pray more for my Christian friends (1:3-4).
  3. Be more loving (1:9).
  4. Think about heaven more (1:21).
  5. Improve my conduct (1:27).
  6. Promote unity in the church (2:1-2).
  7. Be more humble (2:3).
  8. Be less selfish (2:4).
  9. Adjust my attitude (2:5).
  10. Stop complaining (2:14).
  11. Be more open about my faith (2:15-16).
  12. Practice hospitality (2:29).
  13. Re-examine my priorities (3:7).
  14. Get closer to Jesus (3:10).
  15. Make progress toward maturity (3:12-14).
  16. Find a mentor (3:17).
  17. Take a firm stand for Jesus (4:1).
  18. Be more joyful (4:4).
  19. Be gentler (4:5a).
  20. Be more aware of the Lord’s presence (4:5b).
  21. Worry less (4:6a).
  22. Pray more (4:6b).
  23. Guard my thoughts (4:8).
  24. Put my faith into action (4:9).
  25. Be content with what I have (4:11-13).
  26. Help a missionary (4:16).
  27. See my giving as an act of worship (4:18).
  28. Trust in God’s provision (4:19).
  29. Worship daily (4:20).
  30. Be more intentional about giving people a good greeting (4:21).
