If you are looking for some possible New Year’s resolutions, there is no shortage of suggestions in the Bible. Just browsing through Philippians this morning, I found the following possibilities.
- Enjoy God’s grace and peace more (1:2).
- Pray more for my Christian friends (1:3-4).
- Be more loving (1:9).
- Think about heaven more (1:21).
- Improve my conduct (1:27).
- Promote unity in the church (2:1-2).
- Be more humble (2:3).
- Be less selfish (2:4).
- Adjust my attitude (2:5).
- Stop complaining (2:14).
- Be more open about my faith (2:15-16).
- Practice hospitality (2:29).
- Re-examine my priorities (3:7).
- Get closer to Jesus (3:10).
- Make progress toward maturity (3:12-14).
- Find a mentor (3:17).
- Take a firm stand for Jesus (4:1).
- Be more joyful (4:4).
- Be gentler (4:5a).
- Be more aware of the Lord’s presence (4:5b).
- Worry less (4:6a).
- Pray more (4:6b).
- Guard my thoughts (4:8).
- Put my faith into action (4:9).
- Be content with what I have (4:11-13).
- Help a missionary (4:16).
- See my giving as an act of worship (4:18).
- Trust in God’s provision (4:19).
