If you have ever spent time in the waiting area of a hospital emergency room, you know that life must be put on hold for a while. When a loved one is experiencing a medical emergency, everything else must wait. Appointments are re-scheduled, you don’t go to work, you skip school, etc. Nothing else matters except the well-being of your friend or family member who is suffering and needs help. Doctors are consulted, plans are made and—most important of all—prayers go up to God. Healing is the only thing that matters.
When all of mankind became infected with the spiritual sickness of sin, the only thing that mattered to God was our spiritual healing. He went right to work, preparing the world for Jesus to come and save us. Our heavenly Father made our spiritual healing a priority.
“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.”—Isaiah 53:5.
