A crab fisherman was reportedly attacked by a Bengal tiger about 80 miles south of Calcutta, India. Sushil Manjhi was fishing in a stream with his son and daughter when the tiger jumped on the boat and clamped its jaws around the fisherman’s neck. Manjhi’s son, Jyotish, says that his father was dragged away by the huge cat, and he is presumed to be dead.
This horrifying incident lets us know that many poor people in the world struggle to earn a living as they face dangers that most of us can hardly imagine.
It also reminds us that the devil is seeking to destroy us spiritually. 1 Peter 5:8-9 warns, “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.”
