A couple of preachers were talking to one another about their churches. “How many members do you have?” asked the first one.
“We have 200”, came the reply.
“Do they all participate?”
“Oh, yes! Half of them participate with me and the other half participate to oppose me!”
That’s not quite what we are looking for when it comes to participation in the church. We need to be involved, but we also need to be working together for a common purpose—to help the kingdom of God grow.
“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.”—1 Corinthians 12:27
“Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.”—Ephesians 4:3
“From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”—Ephesians 4:16
